Places have an awesome ability to connect people.
Our work at the Foundation has to do with places. And places are an interesting way to think about connecting with people, even though you might not have anything else in common. Or maybe you thought you didn’t have anything in common, because you think you don’t share the same interests, or the same values.
Currently when we’re thinking about conservation work at The Campbell Foundation, we are thinking about connections with other people and how to deepen connections that enable us to find shared values where we might have previously thought we didn’t.
Places can do that. They can enlighten us to our common experience as people.
I think it’s really important going forward on any kind of work on the environment, that we make room for relationships. We need to prioritize the work of building a connection with people who also care about the places where we’re working.
