Grants Management Associate, Pacific

Sara Almaraz

Sara joined The Campbell Foundation in March of 2023 as the Grants Management Associate for the California office, where she works closely with the Chief of Staff to advance the California and Unsolicited grants programs. This includes working with the evolving portfolio in the San Joaquin Valley. She has an extensive background across the nonprofit sector, bringing experience in philanthropic programs, fundraising, communications, and project management to her role. Her background aligns well with her work at the Foundation to support grantees during the proposal process.

A proud daughter of immigrants, Sara was born and raised on the outskirts of Fresno, in the agriculturally rich San Joaquin Valley, where water conservation and quality groundwater are critically important. At a young age, she became acutely aware of the importance of conservation, after having faced firsthand the challenges of lacking access to clean and safe drinking water — a daily experience for some community members in that region. She has discovered, over time, that she gains the most fulfillment while aiding others in creating more just and equitable communities. This was her primary motivation for joining The Campbell Foundation team.

Sara holds a degree in Mass Communication and Journalism with a Public Relations concentration. She returned to the Fresno region in 2008 after living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area for several years. She enjoys time outdoors at nearby Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, the occasional 5k or 10k, experimenting with baking, and spending time with her husband and two children.
